Solid wood knowledge About materials
About Material
The solid wood furniture in our store mainly uses imported white oak or walnut. The solid wood we refer to here is made of logs spliced together. Most of the solid wood furniture on the market is made in this way. Because large-area logs generally have more natural defects, large boards composed of multiple wooden boards will have better effects. The following are the woods commonly used in our company
- White Oak - The wood is hard and heavy, with a relatively distinct mountain-shaped wood grain, and the surface has a good texture to the touch. Oak has a fine texture, with more fillings in the pores, is not easy to absorb water, is corrosion-resistant, and has great strength. European and American countries use it to store red wine. Oak, teak and walnut are the main materials for high-end furniture.
- Walnut - The wood itself contains grain, and some of these grains are wavy or curled. The furniture made from it can naturally form patterns, which has a more natural beauty and is extremely ornamental. The wood is of moderate weight, moderate hardness, even and fine wood fibers, and has strength that can meet the stress conditions of the mortise and tenon joints of furniture, with little variability. Walnut, teak and oak are the main materials for high-end furniture.
Solid Wood Furniture Features
Friends who like solid wood furniture may love nature, or like the natural texture and original texture of solid wood. But solid wood furniture has its own characteristics. Although solid wood furniture is more expensive than artificial wood boards, solid wood is a product of nature and will inevitably have unique wood grain, color, tree eyes, dark mineral lines, knots, wood spots, small holes... and so on. Each piece of solid wood furniture has its own original wood color, so the wood grain and color are somewhat different. Most of our solid wood furniture is handmade. Please understand the imperfections in craftsmanship and that not every product can be 100% identical. If you are concerned about natural and handmade defects, or want to avoid the randomness of wood, you are welcome to come and purchase the displayed stock.
Protective paint and texture
Everyone has different requirements for solid wood furniture. Some people like protective paint with stronger protective properties, while others prefer to give up protection and retain the original wood texture. The following are common solid wood surface coatings:
- Protective paint - highly protective, wear-resistant, highly waterproof, easy to maintain on a daily basis, but will reduce the original touch.
- Wood wax oil - an environmentally friendly paint made from natural plants, can slightly prevent liquid penetration and slightly increase the surface hardness and smoothness, but it has no ugliness-covering function and will not significantly increase the wear resistance of wood.
We usually apply semi-matte protective paint to solid wood furniture, which is easier to maintain on a daily basis and suitable for general household use. Customers can also choose the processing method they prefer, and we will try our best to cooperate.
